I woke sometime later. Jocelyn was standing beside the bed, pulling the covers out from underneath me. I wriggled around and soon found myself cuddled under the covers with her. I watched as she moved around the room, blowing out the candles, then held the covers open as she slipped back into bed.

"Did you want me to leave?"

"No," she said. "I want to hold you. Please stay." Then she rolled me away from her and wrapped me in her arms.

We were tangled together in the morning. It was barely light when I woke. Jocelyn was stirring. I kissed her hands, still wrapped around me.

"Thank you," I told her quietly.

"You're welcome," she whispered into my ear. "I'm sorry, but I have to go to work."

"I am catering a birthday party, so will need to go, anyway. Do you have a few more minutes to hold me?"

"Yes," she said. She kissed the back of my neck, and my entire body tingled.

"Jocelyn?"

"Yes?"

"Um-"

She kissed my shoulder. "Yes, I want to see you again."

"Really?"

"Yes. Tonight, for instance."

I rolled over to look at her. She was smiling at me in the dim morning light. "Would you like me to cook for you?"

"I would like that very much, Deb. What time would you like me?"

"Five if you wanted to watch. Six if you just wanted to eat."

"Five it is," she replied, pulling me into a kiss.

After that, she slipped out of bed, pulling me with her. She waited for me to use the bathroom, donning a bathrobe and assembling my clothes while I was occupied. Then she dressed me, kissing and stroking me as she did so, before drawing me downstairs.

At the door to her garage, she kissed me again, gently, while holding my head still. She broke the kiss and I stared into her eyes.

"Deb," she said. "I want you to think about a word."

"All right," I said. "What word."

"Relationship," she said slowly. "As in, I want one. I hope you do, too." She didn't wait for me to respond, but kissed me briefly once more, then opened the door, pushed me out, and hit the button for the opener. "I'll see you tonight, Deb."

As I drove away, I thought about the word. Relationship.

I liked that word.
